So, this all started with a single line in my head:
“You left me with a dragon?”
It was meant to be a writing warm-up. A silly scene. A throwaway idea to make myself laugh during a particularly long night balancing parenting, coursework, and trying not to burn banana bread (again).
But then Peaches showed up.
Not just any dragon—a sarcastic, Earl Grey-loving, emotionally complex, glitter-warfare strategist of a dragon. The kind of dragon who judges your life choices and your throw pillow color scheme. The kind of dragon who sets traps using garden gnomes and municipal ordinances.
And just like that, You Left Me with a Dragon was born.
🛋️ What is this story?
It’s a chaotic urban fantasy that asks:
What if your roommate was a dragon?
What if your city had weirdly specific bylaws about helicopters?
What if glitter bombs were a viable defense strategy?
The story follows a slightly frazzled narrator (hi), a dragon named Peaches, and a neighborhood that has no idea how close it is to complete magical collapse. There are dragon hunters. There are marshmallows. There are gnomes with agendas.
🧡 Why I Wrote It
I needed a break from doomscrolling. From the seriousness of every day. From perfectly polished, trauma-heavy fiction. I wanted cozy chaos. I wanted laughs and tea and a plot that didn’t apologize for being weird.
And more than that, I wanted a story about found family, unlikely friendships, and the kind of joy that sneaks up on you between battles.
📚 Where to Read It
You can read You Left Me with a Dragon for free on You left me with a DRAGON! - Jessica Moore - Wattpad
It’s being released chapter by chapter. Bring snacks. Expect glitter. And if you laugh out loud in public, just tell people you’re reading an epic fantasy satire with excellent tea recommendations.
✨ A Personal Note
If you’re juggling life, parenthood, work, or just trying to keep your inner dragon fed and caffeinated—I see you. This story is for you. For anyone who needs an escape that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still wraps you up like a cozy blanket full of fire and ridiculous friendship.
Thanks for being here.
Now if you’ll excuse me, Peaches is demanding a second breakfast and I think one of the gnomes moved again.
With love (and glitter),
Jessica
